Grade Seven English

Great Quotes from the Grade 7 English - Biography Projects:

I don't think that I would like to be like Tom Hanks...I think that it would be scary if everyone knew who you were. I think Tom Hanks is a hero because even when people said he was a bad actor and he should quit, he never did. I think he is different from a celebrity because they think that they are the best and that no one else matters in the world except them. I don't think Tom Hanks is like that. Kajsa T.

I think Judy Blume's most important contribution was writing books for children that children enjoy reading. In her books, Judy tries to write about things that are natural things that happen in life. By reading her books, children can feel better about themselves. Manjot T.

Yes, I would like to be like Albert Einstein because even though he struggled in school, he still achieved a lot and contributed a lot. The human quality that most influenced the way that Einstein lived was that he didn't like going to school. He was a person who didn't want to be taught, but wanted to teach himself. I think a hero is a person who has achieved something in life and actually worked for it. Jyoti D.

Brian Orser's most important contribution is that he represented Canada in the Olympics a couple of times. He is a hero because Governor General Jeanne Sauve welcomed him to the Order of Canada. To be a hero means that you have to set goals and achieve them. Danielle L.

When Jerry Rice got booed in the first eleven games he played in the NFL, he knew he was trying his best in every game he played. He knew that one day he would have the game of his life and would never have to get booed after that. A lesson I could learn in that you should never doubt yourself and one day all your hard work will pay off. Joseph R.

Some reasons why I would want to be like Joe Sakic are because I would like to become famous, make big bucks while traveling the world, making friends, and playing the game I love most. A lesson I could learn from Joe Sakic would be to be a good person and people will support you. I think Joe Sakic is a hero because ...he plays hockey for the love of the game, not for the money. He runs his own hockey camp for kids in minor hockey so they may someday get better at hockey...I think he is a hero for helping young hockey players. Riley B.

I think Wayne Gretzky is a hero because he gives back to the NHL and gives children hope to excel at their talents. I think a hero is a person that changes the world, and a celebrity is just famous. Jake T.

I think Enrique Iglesias' most important contribution was that he wanted to bring his music to all people, not just Spanish speaking people. "I like being underestimated," says Enrique Iglesias. "That is what pushes me, drives me to make a great album. I keep having to prove myself." I think that a hero is somebody who saved a person,... or who would die for their county. A celebrity is someone who brings people cheer and happiness.
Heather K.

Cynthia Cooper's most important contributions are helping the unfortunate and educating women about cancer. I hero is someone that saved someone's life. Cynthia Cooper has not saved one life, she has saved lots. A celebrity works hard to get famous, but a hero is a role model, someone who changes the world in a good way. Kernveer B.

No, I wouldn't want to be like Bryan Adams because he did bad in school, he moved lots, and his parents divorced when he was young. I think Bryan Adams is a hero because he has donated $100,000 to a charity and played soccer for Sports Aid. Cassandra M.

No, I would not ant to be Roald Dahl. I don't want to be like him because he was divorced, his dad died when he was 4 years old, and his oldest daughter died when she was 7. I don't want to be like him, not because he isn't a good person, he is a hero, but I don't think I could go through all those things he went through. Jessy D.

A hero is someone who does good, not evil. I think to be a hero you have to something really great. I think Mother Theresa was a hero...she did good, not evil, and she spread her love. Lessons I could learn from her would be: don't be selfish, and always treat others with love and compassion. I would call Britney Spears a celebrity, since she is a music star, but I would never call her a hero. Andrea L.

I think Roald Dahl is a hero because he invented a special valve to help people who are brain damaged. He also helped people who had just had a stroke. The thought of being in a war is terrifying, but...when he got shot down out of a plane, he said, "It was a piece of cake!" Micky B.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be like Ghandi because everyone would want to kill me. He was really determined. He was willing to spend time in jail for Sedition just to change little parts of the way the government is run in India. A hero means to save something or someone, but a celebrity means having a good talent. Luke K.

I think Chris Pronger is a hero because he plays hockey for the fun of it and does not care if he gets paid or not. Ben P.

I think to be a hero you have to have done something great that people can remember you by, like helping humanity. I think Britney Spears is a hero because she opened a camp for disabled kids. Ashley S.

The most important contribution that Usher has made is that he is so sensitive about his family. He has also given money to charity. Usher is not a hero, he is an R&B and pop and rap singer. Chay R.

I think one of the most important contributions in Hillary Duff' s life is donating to charities. She is an animal rights advocate and a founding member of Kids With a Cause. She also visits children's hospitals. Crystal T.

Freddie Prince Jr. is not a hero because he did not rescue people or stop drugs. A celebrity is ...someone famous. A lesson I can learn from his life is that you can be rich if you start off poor. Harry B.

I think David Suzuki's most important contribution is his t.v.. show because it tells people about the environment. Gage Y.

I would like to be like Jimi Hendrix in some ways like his ability to play the guitar. I would not like to be like him...because he did heavy drugs and died young. I think Jimi Hendrix was a hero because he expanded music and lots of people look up to him. Derrick F.

George Lucas was bold and not afraid to make movies no one believed were possible. Celebrities are famous for movies or songs. Heroes are famous for deeds. Eddie P.

The reason I would not want to be like Adolph Hitler is because he went into politics and killed millions of people. He also had a bad temper, was moody and lazy. Alex. B.
I would want to be like Marion Jones because she is a very strong woman physically and emotionally. A hero is different from a celebrity because a celebrity is someone who is good at what they do, but they are performing to entertain people. A hero does it for themselves. Courtney B.

A hero is someone who does something good for the country, the city, or even for someone else. A celebrity is different from a hero because a celebrity does acting for money and it's all fake. A hero does something good and it's real. Hakeem Olajuwan is a hero because he donates money every year to charity. Dilsher G.

Qualities that influenced the way Grant Hill lived and influenced his times were: off court he was very nice, but on court, no more Mr. Nice Guy! I think a hero is someone who is good at something. Grant Hill is a hero because he has many qualities that are good. Most celebrities are snobs and brats, but heroes are nice and generous. Ajay S.

I think being a hero means you did something for your country or the world. Ashley Olson is a celebrity not a hero, but she did give a big contribution to a local charity for needy kids.
Chelsea F.

Waiting Forever

Why are you still there?
Standing and waiting.

I'm trying to leave,
But your blue eyes are holding me back.

I can feel you coming up behind me,
Putting your arms around me.

But I'm leaving,
I start to move,
And your grip loosens.

I can't look back,
Because I know that if for one second I regret what I'm doing,
I will run straight back.

I wish my world could accept you...

I wish my heart would let you in...

I wish I could convince myself that you're the one...

Like you have convinced yourself that I am...

I can still taste your tears in my mouth,
I can still see your face in my eyes.
I can still feel your arms around my waist.

But I'm leaving,
And I can't look back.
So why are you still there?
Standing and waiting.

I only knew your name

I wanna remember you.
The guy you were before.
When I only knew your name,
And I was untouchable
Far away
Hard to reach
Safe
Unbroken.

I must have mistaken you,
For somebody else,
Then again,
I only knew your name.

I didn't think I would actually love you,
I only knew your name
Knowing all the hearts you have broken.

I didn't think I would ever write about you,
I could only write down your name.

I didn't think I would ever cry for you,
I only knew your name
Now I can't wipe away my tears.

The more I found out about you,
The more I realized I could cry for you,
I could write about you,
I could love you
And I do.

I love you now,
Only you
But we're only friends,
Once again
When we know we should be more.

Nothing to say

What do you write?
When there's nothing to say...
But the feeling of telling it,
Won't go away.

I know what I want,
But I can't write it down,
I don't know how to speak it,
It's another language.
Help me!
Is all my heart cries.

Voiceless

I can feel my world closing in on me,
The darkness takes control,
Captured, trapped, tortured,
Lost, without a soul.

Forever lingering, no found joy,
My enemy is the night,
Wanting, craving, needing,
God-grant me light.

I can't seem to escape,
I cannot open my eyes,
The only sound to shatter this silence,
Is my empty, lonely cries.

No one can hear me,
Nobody understands,
I travel alone within these shadows
Searching,
Forever searching,
For my place
For my lover
For my friend
For my voice.

For you I'd do more

You didn't understand all the ways I loved you,
You didn't understand all the things I'd do,
You made me soar above the white clouds,
And swim below the ocean blue.

For you I'd climb the highest mountain,
I'd lie upon the sandiest shore,
For you I'd give up cheating,
For you I'd do more.
