THE LATE FRENCH PROGRAMME
- Open to any student who has successfully completed Grade
5
- Suitable for students who have had little or no previous
French experience
- Late French Immersion students have highly developed first
language skills that are transferred to the second language
- Language structures and vocabulary expansion are emphasized
in the first year.
- Late Immersion has proven to be an extremely successful programme,
which results in a high level of proficiency in French with no
negative impact on the other areas of student's education.
THE BENEFITS OF LFI
- Gives your child access to a larger pool of information
- Increases cognitive abilities, creating a more flexible thinker
- Enhances your child's knowledge of his/her first language
and improves his/her ability to communicate in it
- Research suggests that after 2 to 3 years Late Immersion
Students achieve as well as both Early Immersion and English
students in English Language Arts and the content areas.
- A second language provides more educational and career opportunities.
- Increases your child's ability to enjoy personal pleasures
such as the arts, literature, music and theatre.
- Provides an environment where students are surrounded by
other high achievers.
